Here is a female Sharp-shinned Hawk caught and banded during our visit to the Goshute Mountains HawkWatch Field Station. This is the definition of intense! We hiked 2.5 miles up (1800') to a ridge in the Goshutes to the field station. Bristlecone Pines dot the ridge. Looking over the valley, one sees classic basin and range topography.
